A large gathering attended the celebrations to mark the 10th Anniversary of SHARE Foundation at St. Lucia’s Cathedral in Kotahena. The Community Nursing Service was a pioneer project in Sri Lanka. As the first of this kind, the service was introduced in November 1999 as a millennium project during the year of the elderly. The 10-year celebrations included a thanksgiving service for all those who have supported and helped maintained this service during the last ten years. The many volunteers, who are doctors, lawyers, accountants, bank managers, teachers, nuns, priests, many friends and family, were all present at the ceremony. It was a great pleasure to welcome the Bishop of Anuradhapura to the ceremony. There are 27 members of staff in all three centres (in Kotahena, Kalutara and Alegollewa) and at the Renal Dialysis Programme.
The Parish Priest, Fr. Tony Martin, the staff and the Board of Management of the Kotahena health centre and the young social committee worked hard to make this occasion a wonderful and memorable event.
